Day of Health for Seniors
Presented by: UPMC for Life and UPMC Senior Communities
UPMC for Life will be offering free screenings on body mass index, blood pressure, bone density, cholesterol, and glucose. You do not need to fast. UPMC Centers for Rehab Services will be offering chronic pain screenings, hand screenings, balance screenings and will answer questions on physical therapy, pelvic floor and lymphedema issues. Other UPMC departments will have display tables with helpful information.
Guest Speaker: Dr. Michael Parkinson is Senior Medical Director of Health and Productivity from UPMC Health Plan. Dr. Parkinson will be presenting on the following topics:
10 to 10:30 a.m. “Get Active – Stay Young!” – Were Jack LaLanne and Stephen Covey nuts? What does the science say?
11 to 11:30 a.m. “It’s All About Plants – The Most Recent Studies on What to Eat to Live Long and Prosper” The evidence continues to build: whole food plant-based foods are the cornerstone of good health.
11:45 to 12:45 p.m. 412 Food Rescue Cooking Demonstration – 412 Food Rescue’s Clean Plate Cooking Demonstrations focus on healthy eating and eliminating food waste with nutritious and delightful recipes that are simple enough to make at home.
